We spent three nights at Kimberleyland Caravan Park in Kununarra nursing a wounded knee and soul, making use of the time to recover whilst still having to unpack and clean from the GRR. We did nothing too exciting by washing and resting in bed while needing medication for the knee. The girls were happy to be back in the van with all their toys, luckily, so they were entertained. We caught up with Sam and Pete who invited us over for a cooked dinner one night, yummy chilli con carne!

Big Boab at Kimberleyland.... |
We needed to get a move on, so we packed up and headed off out of Kunna stopping off at Lake Argyle for a swim in the infinity pool. It cost us $20 just to swim but that was cheaper than the $55 per night to stay, plus everyone who knows Marty knows that he doesn't sit around well and needs to keep moving. The infinity pool was awesome, coolish, but refreshing and relaxing enough (when your head is under water and not being able to hear the girls that is, lol). It is so picturesque with the ranges as the backdrop to the pool.

After an hour or so we made our way down the road to the Durack museum, as Ton and Cam said it was a really cool place. We took around 15 minutes to get thru it and learnt a little about the area, having being founded and owned by the Durack family who had a huge working station across WA. The funniest thing l saw was Boo and Megs over sized heads due them putting a magnified sheet of plastic in front of their heads, so classic......

Girls had enough....time to go |
Following our history lesson at Durack Homestead we made our way up the road a short way to the NT border. We had mixed emotions about heading over the border, we were excited to be heading to a new state after spending so much time, 18 months to be exact, in WA but we had had an absolutely amazing adventure exploring this wonderful and vastly spread out state. However, we were equally as excited to be heading back to the NT after last being there over 2 years ago, it was like we were returning home (for me anyway). Have very fond memories of our past times spent in the NT, amazing people, culture, country and laughs!

Kiss at the border for good luck! Get a kiss whenever l can
these days really, any excuse l say! lol |
Not long into our NT adventures we came across a big burn-off, no surprise what state we are driving in now! Wouldn't be NT is no smoke in the horizon! We had worn the girls energy out with a swim and walk around, so it was time to chill out and have a quiet ride with the DVD player on. Keeps everyone happy! We were nearing dusk and wanted a free camp, one that wasn't in full sun. As we got our Wiki Camps app working we found that there wasn't much around other than road side stops, which we weren't really wanting in this neighborhood. So seeing we were at the end of the day, we made a right hand turn into the Nitmiluk National Park entrance just past Victoria River and found a little cosy spot to stop hitched up for the night, in full shade. Now this was important because it was bloody hot now that we had crossed over to the NT border!!! We all sat outside in the shade, Marty knocking down a few coldies while Meg proceeded to go a bit loopy from being in the car for so long. Was a pretty funny night of laughs in a truly stunning place. We were surrounded with huge red cliffs and pandanas palms...the toilets, however, were a little to be desired!

Meg gone crazy! |
As we made our way towards Katherine, l got signal on the phone where Ton and Cam let us know they were stopping off at Edith Falls for the night....no brainer that's were we headed. We arrived mid arvo, after some gentle persuasion to Martin, who wanted to get closer to Darwin. We pulled up to see Mark and Amanda were also camped for the night. The girls had a ball playing with Jordyn, Charlotte and Jake. Poor Riley was under the weather with a tummy bug the poor thing. Ton and l embraced like we had been apart for surmountable time, not just 2.5 weeks! We spent the arvo catching up and having cool dip at Edith Falls. Marty, Cam and l swam over to the falls to check it out, the boys enjoying the forceful blast of pressure from the water. As the kids went back to camp with the boys, Amanda slept while Ton and l lazed about having time and quiet to catch up. Oh how we have missed the 'HardFirms'......
