Karijini National Park....another Australian natural wonder ticked off our bucketlist!

Just warning you all that in this next leg of our travels we arrived at Karijini National Park which was so visually stunning that nearly every day deserved its own post due to the amount of photos l wanted to share. We stayed a total of 8 nights at this amazing place, the first week we conquered most of thee gorges and lookouts, our last day being the most amazing day ever!  So sit back, relax and enjoy our time in Karijini NP, l promise it wont disappoint the eyes!

Before heading off to Karijini National Park, Cam and l were feeling energetic and decided to start the day with a few laps running around the Port Hedland Racecourse track.  Funny running with someone after running by myself for so long, and weirder running with a bloke.  I was really surprised at how fit Cam was as we ran most of 2km track together with him sprinting off to the finish line in the end.  Marty stood filming us testing the new GoPro out and l felt like a lame horse galloping over the line, but l did do another lap unlike Cam who thought one was enough....
After showering and hitching up, we stopped off at South Hedland for some last minute groceries before making our way out to Karijini NP.  It was a long day in the car and l found it was worthwhile tackling thru some school.  We stopped off at the Munjina Roadhouse for some lunch, forgoing the $10 pies for our sandwiches we made in the van.  It was such a dust bowl with red Pilbera dirt flying around with the gusty wind.  There were heaps of whistling kites circling around eyeing off some snacks on the ground.  The road-trains parked were enormous, still glamoured by these massive trucks.

Loving the changing landscapes....

Cant get enough of the road-trains!

Next stop was Karijini NP and we headed straight to Dales Campground to get a spot.  It was late afternoon and the sky was grey, the weather turning cold for the next few days.  We couldn't get a spot in the generator area that day but were told that we could move tomorrow as some were coming available.  The photos on the ranger check in center walls were amazing of the gorges and falls we would be seeing in the next few days, everyone was very excited to finally be here.  The cost was reasonable at $22.20 per night and there were toilets but no showers or water available.  We had to share a site together on the first night, which didn't faze us anyway.  We set up side by side and just in time as the rain started to drizzle down from the heavens.  The kids feet went from clean to orange/brown in a matter of seconds and l was soon not marveling in the Pilbera dirt but cursing it!!  It had been a long day so what better way to end it with a few cold ones and hibernating in the van due to it being so cold....

Camp at Dales Campground....
